Mkhuze Game Reserve
Are you a real bird lover? Then Afrikaans Safari recommends you to visit Mkhuze Game Reserve. The park has a diverse biodiversity. The reason for this is that the park has a tropical and subtropical climate. The park is known for having over 400 recorded bird species. You will find here the rare Neergaad's Sunbird and the African Broadbill. You can encounter the entire Big Five in Mkhuze. The lion was reintroduced here in 2013, bringing the last member back into the park. To increase your chances of seeing the Big Five, we recommend a different park. In the nearby Hluhluwe Imfolozi National Park, your chances of seeing the Big Five are significantly higher.
It is best to visit the park in summer. In the summer you can spot many migratory birds. This means that there are more birds than in winter. Please note, this concerns the South African summer. This lasts from November to April. The park features observation huts and you can spot many other animal species besides birdlife in Mkhuze Game Reserve!
